Place, my friend, so let's get started.

Speaker 1

At first glance, visioning and visualization may seem like the same thing, because they both involve creating a mental image of something that you want to bring into your life, but in truth, they come from two very different places and can lead to two very different outcomes. So visualization is the most common practice, and this is where you consciously create a specific image or outcome in your mind. So you imagine yourself achieving a certain goal. Maybe it's a new job, a financial milestone or the creation of a brand new relationship. It's often a tool that we use for achieving personal desires. It's often a tool that we use for achieving personal desires. Visioning, on the other hand, is a more, I suppose, spiritual or open-ended process. So, instead of deciding on a specific outcome, you ask for guidance from a higher source. Now, for you, that might be God, the universe, your higher self, buddha, allah, bob, dave, do you know what I mean? Whatever you want to call it cosmic intelligence, I actually like the one mind. And you ask the one mind, for example, to reveal a vision for your life that aligns with your true purpose. So visioning is about surrender, it's about trust and it's about being open to possibilities beyond what you might consciously imagine.

Speaker 1

So, as an athlete, visualizing my goals is something that I learned pretty early on in my life. You know, I was told way back when I was in fact about nine years old, going for my gymnastics trophy was to picture myself standing on the podium holding the trophy in my hand. You know, you were probably taught how to visualize by a sports coach in school when you were young as well. Now, when I was training for the world champs in water ski, speed skiing, I hired a mental coach to help me with my mental game and I have to say he took my visualizing to another level. So for that sport I had to mentally rehearse everything, starting from the night before a competition and I'm talking about fine details all the way through to that sounds of the crowd cheering as I crossed the finish line. In fact, with the processes and the tools that he taught me, I got so good at visualizing I effectively trained my body to unconsciously do exactly what I had imagined in my mind. Now, if you're a business person, you may have visualized closing a major deal that led to the success of your company, or as an entrepreneur. Perhaps you visualized completing the biggest launch you've ever done and you ended up earning more money in one month than you did the entire previous year.

Speaker 1

So, depending on how you do this, some people find it easier to visualize with props and aids like vision boards or mind movies. Others write down scripts or might journal what they want. Doesn't matter what process you can use. Whatever process works for you, but visualization helps reinforce the goal you desire and aligns your daily actions with your mental pictures. It's part of my momentum process. It's effectively programming your subconscious mind to focus on a specific outcome. So it's a tool for manifestation and when combined with action, it can be incredibly powerful.

Speaker 1

However, it's limited by what the conscious mind can imagine. So, while visualization is effective for achieving specific goals, it can also be restrictive. Why? Well, because we're often limited by our own thinking. Our conscious minds can only dream as big as our past experiences and beliefs allow. Only dream as big as our past experiences and beliefs allow. So, while you may be visualizing the perfect house, the perfect job or the perfect relationship, you could be missing out on an even greater opportunity that your higher self or the universe has in store for you.

Speaker 1

So, in essence, visualization is about manifesting what you think you want. But what if your true purposed or highest? And that's where visioning comes in. So visioning is not about setting a specific goal and visualizing its completion. Instead, it's about opening yourself to a vision that aligns with your highest potential, something that comes from beyond the ego and personal desires. So, dr Michael Beckwith he's the creator of the life visioning process. He explains that visioning is about asking open-ended questions like what is trying to emerge in my life? What is the highest vision for my life? How can I serve the greater good? So in visioning, you're not in control of the outcome. You're a channel receiving insights and guidance from a higher source, whether that be the universe, god or your higher self. It's a process of surrender and trust, allowing the best possible outcome to reveal itself, even if it's something you hadn't imagined before.

Speaker 1

So imagine someone feeling stuck in their career. Through visualization, they might picture themselves getting a promotion, earning more money or switching companies and getting a better offer. However, if they engage in a visioning process, they might receive guidance that their true calling is something completely different, perhaps opening a non-profit organization or pursuing a creative passion, like writing or art. Through visioning, they discover that their true purpose goes far beyond climbing the corporate ladder. It's about something that brings them deeper fulfillment, something they hadn't considered because it wasn't part of their current goal-setting framework. Visioning in this case leads to a path that aligns with their soul's purpose, rather than just achieving a goal for the sake of success or validation.

Speaker 1

Now, visioning also has a deeply spiritual element. So in today's society, we often focus on individual desires and goals, what we want to achieve, how we want to feel and what we want to have. But visioning flips that and asks what does life want from me? What is the higher plan for my life? Now? This surrender can be challenging for people in a world that emphasizes control and personal ambition. But when you trust the process of visioning, you often find that the vision you receive is far more expansive, far more meaningful and more aligned with your true essence than what you could have visualized on your own.

Speaker 1

So let's say you're seeking more meaning in your life. Well, in the past you might have visualized getting a new job, starting a family or buying your dream home, things that society tells us will bring happiness. But through visioning, you begin to ask deeper questions what is my life's true purpose? How can I best serve the world? What gifts do I have to offer that I've yet to uncover? And the answers to these questions you receive. They might just surprise you. You know, maybe you discover a latent talent for healing or teaching, or perhaps you feel called to serve a community or create something that uplifts others. You see, through visioning, you receive a vision that is not just about your personal gain, but also about fulfilling your highest potential in a way that benefits the collective your highest potential in a way that benefits the collective.

Speaker 1

Now, one of the biggest differences between visualization and visioning is the role of the ego. You see, when we visualize, the ego is often driving the show. We want to achieve certain goals, to feel successful, to feel validated or worthy, and there's nothing wrong with that. But it's still operating from a place of personal desire. So envisioning the ego takes a back seat. You're not imposing your will. Instead, you're aligning yourself with the will of something greater. You're asking to be shown what's possible beyond your limited perception, and that requires humility and trust. So visualization might have you imagining the perfect romantic partner, someone who ticks all the boxes of what you think you want. In fact, you might even create a detailed image of their appearance, their personality, their lifestyle. But what if the perfect partner for you is someone completely different than what you've imagined? Visioning might guide you to connect with someone who helps you grow in unexpected ways, who challenges you in areas you didn't realize needed growth. Instead of chasing an image of perfection, visioning opens you up to relationships that align with your soul's evolution.

Speaker 1

Now, when I met Doug he's my husband of 17 years now I had a picture in my mind of what the ideal partner looked like for me. In fact, the secret had just come out, and one of the things they said to me on the secret was to write down a list and visualize not vision, visualize that person. So that's exactly what I did. I'm a good student and I wrote everything down that I wanted in the Perfect Partner, and I printed that list out and I stuck it in the shower, I stuck it in my pantry and I stuck it above my desk in my office. Now here's what's really interesting. Doug was a friend of mine at the time and was definitely not somebody I would have ever considered as my romantic partner. He just didn't fit the piece of paper that I had in my shower, in the pantry and above my desk.

Speaker 1

But isn't it funny? One day I was doing some visioning. So I was doing the process of visioning and thinking about what I wanted to create in my life and he turned up on my doorstep one day. He was asking for a healing. He sat down on my couch. He said this has got nothing to do with you or what you do with it is up to you. But I need to say what I've got to say. He said I'm in love with you and I remember looking at him going what it was completely out of left field or completely wasn't even in my charts to think of him as a romantic partner. And what's funny about that was I went back to my list and, interesting enough is, on my list almost everything was character traits and he ticked every single one of them. And we actually have a standing joke, because one of the things I did right, so I actually did two lists. I did one list, which was all the character traits, and then I went back to the list and added physical traits and what I'd written down was must be in shape and, as he likes to fondly say, round is a shape.

Speaker 1

So how can you apply both visioning and visualization in your life? So visualization is excellent for achieving specific, tangible outcomes, and it's what I use in the momentum method every day. So, whether that's improving your performance in a specific area or manifesting a goal like buying a home, advancing your career or even reaching a fitness milestone, I use that every day to be able to create structural tension in our creations. But if you're seeking deeper purpose, greater alignment with your soul or clarity on your life's mission, then you might want to give visioning a go, Because this is especially helpful when you feel stuck, uncertain or like there's something more you're meant to do that you haven't yet discovered Now.

Speaker 1

I talked in previous episodes about the land of plenty meditation, so this is a meditation that I provide in one of my core training programs, and it's what we use to create choices or grand vision goals, and then we create desired results from those true choices, but essentially it's the visioning process. So, to sum it up, visualization is about focusing your mind on specific goals and outcomes that you want to achieve, while visioning is about opening yourself to a higher purpose and allowing the universe, or your higher self, to reveal what is in alignment with your soul's journey. Both practices have their place. The key is knowing when to apply each one. Visualization helps you achieve your tangible goals. Apply each one. Visualization helps you achieve your tangible goals. Visioning will lead you to a life that is aligned with your highest purpose and potential.
